Havok Sitting

This is Havok, my original character. Hopefully soon I'll be submitting an explanation about 'what' Havok and Lokki (her mate) are and how I came up with them.

For now, this is the first picture of them that is completely finished, and here is a "little" background info.

Basically, I wanted to create a wolf that was cat-like in agility and climbing, and a mix of the two in appearance. I wanted mischievous, Cheshire-cat type wolves that could climb easily and taunt people and other animals from nearly anywhere as they were so fast, agile, curious, and clever. That concept slowly evolved into these guys lol.

I liked the tall, lanky appearance of maned wolves, but that's more cheetah-esque, and I wanted climbers. That body type is really more suited to running, so the only artistic influence I kept from the maned wolf was the "mane", the facial markings to a certain degree, and the comparative ear size (pretty big ears!).

The body is more leopard/tiger like - tiger size, but leopard-like in climbing ability (they live in a world with VERY sturdy, huge trees to hold all that weight). Their tails are prehensile like a monkey's, and so they use it as a ballast for climbing and as a rudder when running (much like most big cats). Their claws are retractable, and their dentition is wolf-en with big cat canines.

These guys act more wolf-like and think more wolf-like despite their tiger-esque appearance. Their social hierarchy is a pack, and their pairs mate for life.

Havok is the crazy one out of the two - Lokki is more relaxed (yes his name is ironic lol). Lokki looks like Havok except he is gray (possibly thinking of tinting him blue to compliment her orange fur. Thoughts?).
